These are the flowers of the 2009 Purple Princess grow out. A couple different types showed up from the new segregation of genes. I very nice purple Kikyou star with small dark green variegated foliage was a pleasant surprise. The pink flowers and petaloid elements are logical but were un-expected as well.
From all of these plants, Plant Number 2 was selected to continue the Purple Princess line. This was based on its strong Princess characteristics and then its flower color. Eventually I’d love to increase the intensity of the purple color and have a more uniform distribution of the intense color.
